Your fireplace looks amazing! I found your blog while searching around for a chalkboard tutorial. We're in the process of renovating our house and are painting our fireplace as well. Do you have any recommendations for the heat resistant black paint? I've looked everywhere and can't seem to find a good one!

Chelsea, I have not yet researched this fully but I will let you know when I find one. Sadly Rust-oleum high heat paint, which is supposed to resist up to 1200 degrees and I thought would be just the thing, has on their website that it should not be used inside a fireplace :(. The search continues...

I just discovered your blog and I love your home and all the thrifty ideas you have. I am helping my sister do some DIY budget renovations. I am in love with your kitchen floor. I looked at the blog post about it and there isnt any mention about the floor, just photos of it being installed. Can you tell me what kind of flooring it is? thanks!

In the post about painting laminate furniture the two units are different, before and after. did you add a set of doors to the bottom of one of the storage units? i have the exact Broyhill wall unit that i'm either going to dump to the curb or paint and repurpose. not having two sets of doors always bothered me with my unit.

any info appreciated.
